Prediction markets are in jeopardy, but your voice can make a difference!
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has proposed a rule that would prevent you, and everyone else in the United States, from taking part in election futures markets like PredictIt. The proposal defines these markets as “gaming,” a misguided notion that reduces election futures to little more than a spin of the roulette wheel.
You know, and we know, that this is wrong.
When you trade on PredictIt, you aren’t rolling the dice or playing a guessing game. You’re taking in complex information from the world around you, sifting fact from fiction, and making a careful decision using your experience, intelligence and intuition. And together with every other trader, you produce highly accurate and influential expectations of the future.
We need you to act now to save elections markets. The CFTC is accepting public comments on its proposed rule, but only for a limited period. Time is short. Please take this opportunity to tell the commission about your own experience as a seasoned political trader and why you think they are making a mistake.
Read the proposed rule and leave your comment to the CFTC here:
Believe it or not, the CFTC is required to read and respond substantively to every public comment. Proposed rules are often modified and, in some cases, withdrawn based on information received during the comments period. The more comments, the better!
We thank you for your continued support. We look forward to reading your comments!
